Due to the proximity of RRMS and RRHS to the point of origin for the brush fires in Starkey Park, the county and national weather service have advised the district to expect a regular smoke related event in the early morning hours at RRHS/MS campuses for an extended period of time. Because we cannot absorb any more than one additional day of lost instruction at these schools, we have been left with few options.
The district made the difficult decision to shift the student school day for RRHS/MS campuses to 10:45 am– 5:10 pm for students for the remainder of the week. Student drop off prior to 10:00 am is NOT permitted. It is important that families make it a priority to attend their scheduled exams –we have attached the new exam bell schedule to assist in planning.
To support the shifts in transportation, students should add 3 hours and 15 minutes to their normal pick-up time to arrive at their new pick-up time for the remainder of the week. Anyone whose pick-up time will vary from this, will be contacted directly by staff with their pick-up time for the remainder of this week.
Thank you all for your flexibility and dedication to our students. I realize this is NOT an ideal situation but please know that your support during this difficult situation will make all the difference.
Thank you, Dr. Zetzsche
