Wednesday, May 2nd, at 6:00 pm on campus at the high school bus loop
Mission:
Build a catapult which is designed to throw a water balloon as far as possible. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place distances.
Participants:
This contest is open to all catapult enthusiasts: no matter your age! Teams are allowed. No more than 4 people per team. All participants must register in advance by submitting a registration form by 4/25
Specifications:
No ready-made kits. Each catapult must be designed, constructed, and launched by contestants. No part of the catapult can extend over 6 feet at rest. All catapults will be launched in the high school bus parking lot. They must sit on the ground. The catapult cannot be staked to the ground.
All catapults will fling water balloons provided by RRHS Academy of Engineering. Your catapult must have a triggering mechanism which will allow you to stand 2 feet away. No explosions or air pressure may be used to assist the performance of your catapult. In other words, the energy used to power your catapult, must be provided by the device itself. Any type of hurling machine is acceptable: Ballista, Trebuchet, Mangonel, etc.
Scoring:
Each group will be allowed three launches. The best launch will be used as your score. The longest launch wins.

There is a $100 registration fee per team. Registration form can be emailed, faxed, mailed or picked up at school office. Call Eva Spissak 727-243-0552 for form or questions.
