At the homecoming game we had the privilege of Emily Cartafalsa joining us as an honorary captain. Learn more about her story and how we can help her and our kicker Michael Webster raise money to help combat childhood cancers.
Emily’s Story – “I am a senior at the University of Tampa and a SuperSibling ambassador for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF – www.alexslemonade.org) & Kick-it For Cancer. I was first introduced to the foundation when my school and another local school competed against each other to raise money for ALSF. It soon became a bigger part of my life when my brother, Ryan, was diagnosed with a brain tumor right before his 2nd birthday. After two rounds of chemotherapy and 33 rounds of proton radiation he had beaten cancer. He is 9 now, and is 6 years and 9 months cancer-free. My family is now actively involved with ALSF volunteering out time to help them raise money and awareness for childhood cancers. I even spent this summer as an intern for the Foundation where I got to work firsthand with the people who can help make a difference.”
