THE TEAMS

Teams will consist of up to 10 members with 8 on the court at one time.

THE GAME

The object of the game is to eliminate all opposing players by getting them “OUT”. This may be done by:

1. Hitting an opposing player with a LIVE thrown ball below the shoulders.

2. Catching a LIVE ball thrown by your opponent before it touches the ground.  Definition: LIVE: A ball that has been thrown and has not touched anything, including the floor/ground, another ball, another player, official or other item outside of the playing field (wall, ceiling, etc).

3.  You can only hold a ball for 10 seconds, afterwards, it will be considered dead. Dead balls need to be rolled over immediately to the other team.

4. If you are out, line up on the side in the order you got out (think of it as being in an “resurrection” line). If your teammate catches a live ball, the player at the start of your team’s “resurrection” line comes back into play after referee signal (the teammate must be in the line at the time of the catch to be eligible to be brought back in).

THE OPENING RUSH

Game begins by placing the dodgeballs along the center line – four on one side of the center hash and four on the other. Players then take a position behind their end line. Following a signal by the official, teams may approach the centerline to retrieve the balls. This signal officially starts the contest. Teams may only retrieve the four balls to their right of the center hash. Once a ball is retrieved it must be taken behind the attack-line before it can be legally thrown.

TIMING AND WINNING A GAME

The first team to legally eliminate all opposing players will be declared the winner of the game. Each match will be best 2out of 3 games. A five-minute time limit has been established for each game. If neither team has been eliminated at the end of the five minutes, the team with the greater number of players remaining will be declared the winner. If the 2 teams have equal number of players at the end of 5 minutes next team to eliminate an opponent wins.

Conduct

Any foul language will be immediate removal from the gym.

All calls by the referee is FINAL.

Any arguing with the referee will be disqualification of the entire team.

Any unsportsmanship acts or violation of above conduct may result in a school referral.
